










Map of Misfortune, my solo exhibition as a diasporic Bangladeshi artist, mourns the erosion of Bangladesh’s fragile democracy through a powerful interdisciplinary installation spanning works from 2012 to 2025. Combining photography, sculpture, textiles, video, and digital art, I weave a poignant narrative of resistance rooted in the legacy of the 1971 Liberation War. From afar, I confront the rise of authoritarianism and religious fundamentalism that threaten my homeland’s hard-won freedom. Echoing Jibanananda Das’s despairing verse, my work laments a nation trapped in political stagnation, deprived of rights and compassion. As the world ignores this creeping repression, I reclaim the spirit of independence through my art, honouring the three million lives lost and striving to preserve the radiant essence of Bangladesh. The exhibition stands as both remembrance and resistance—a defiant act of love, memory, and unyielding hope for the future.
